Have questions or concerns?

Below you’ll see answers to some of the most common questions we get. If you don’t see your question below, you can contact us.

General Questions

  • If you're expecting your first child, our Essential Prep course is for you. It will help you understand and prepare for the most important relationship dynamics you'll encounter when you become parents. It can be a good fit if your child very recently came in the world.

If you're already a parent and are navigating early parenthood, we offer the Connect through the Chaos course to help you understand why you may be struggling, clean up challenges that have built up, prevent any damage, and become increasingly connected through early parenthood.

We offer live and on-demand options. We know some people prefer to learn in a group, have that community feel, and be able to ask questions and get support on the spot - if that's you, we recommend the live course (taught virtually). If you prefer the privacy and the safety and comfort of your own pace in your own space, we also offer on-demand video courses.

  • Many people have taken these courses on their own and reported that it was highly transformative, allowing them to make immediate and effective changes in their relationship. However, these courses are designed to be done with your partner for the greatest impact. There are prompts for sharing and discussion, and having a shared understanding and language for issues and tools creates the most supportive environment for connection.

  • Early parenthood starts when you're pregnant, or know you're adopting or using a surrogate, as these "expecting" dynamics already start to impact your relationship, as you start to make choices relating to being parents and family life. We think early parenthood ends when your youngest child is about four years old.

  • Tell them we understand - parenthood is busy enough. "Working on your relationship" often feels like you're going to be pressured into being someone you're not or endlessly talking about your childhood. Not to mention, coaches doing courses are everywhere these days - how can you trust that this is going to be worth it?

There are a handful of things that can make our course different. While we believe diving into both the educational parts and the exercises will give you the best results, you can do whatever feels desirable. You can choose your own adventure and only watch the topics of the areas you're particularly struggling with. You can also decide to watch/listen to the videos separately and then come back to each other for discussion, as opposed to doing the specific exercises together. You can do one topic a week, or one topic a month. We're confident that whatever way you choose to participate, you won't regret doing it.

And we have a 30-day money back guarantee, so there's really nothing to lose.

(Also, if your partner is unwilling to participate, many people have opted to take the course on their own and still report that it was highly transformative, allowing them to make immediate and effective changes in their relationship.)

  • You'll have lifetime access to the on-demand courses and all of the resources that are included.

  • Absolutely. The principles and tools taught in this course have been tested and refined in countless counseling sessions, live workshops, and in real time — they are the best foundational practices in couples coaching that can be applied to any relationship, with a focus on the most commonly reported issues by new parents. It’s true every relationship is unique, but relationship dynamics overlap a lot. Good education and best practices make a huge difference.

  • All of our on-demand courses come with a 30-day money back guarantee. We understand that there isn't a perfect way to know if a therapy or personal growth product is right for you until you dive in. So if you watch some modules or take some action steps and it's not a good fit, let us know and we'll refund you.

Babyproofing Your Relationship Course

  • The tricky part of talking about this when people are expecting their first child is that we don't want to hamper your excitement! In our culture, until now we haven't addressed this issue, but preparing your relationship for having a child is as important as reading the pregnancy book, choosing a safe car sear, and taking a labor and delivery class. This is preventive care. If you understand the dynamics in advance we can support your relationship in staying strong and connected through this beautiful and chaotic time.

  • The live course is an hour and a half and has supplementary materials and exercises you can do. The on-demand course is the same material, but the videos are broken out between the educational materials and exercises. We intend this to be a to-the-point experience with only what you need so it’s not overwhelming.

  • The live course - taught both virtually and in-person in San Francisco - is taught with educational, discussion, and exercise sections. The educational sections use a slideshow to capture and aid in conveying course concepts. The discussion is free form Q&A and sharing as we go through the material. And the exercises are guided and timed, to do in real-time with your partner. The on-demand course is similar, except for the discussion portion. Each version of the course includes supplementary audio clips and downloadable resources.

  • If you’re enrolling in the live course, it will be through our partnership with Natural Resources. After registration, you’ll get a series of emails from them with information about how to participate and a link to the additional resources for the course, which includes audio mini-modules, and exercises for topics including dividing roles and responsibilities and maintaining intimacy.

Connect Through the Chaos Course

  • Absolutely. When your kid(s) are older, this course can give you a clear understanding of what dynamics fractured your connection and satisfaction, and therefore it gives you actionable doorways to work with any resentment and reroute the patterns that set in during that time. We have had a handful of couples with older kids take this course, some of whom were on the brink of divorce, and for many it was a massive turning point in their relationship satisfaction and saved them from splitting.

  • The on-demand course is broken into 24 videos and 8 audio clips which are between 5-20 minutes. If you watched and listened to every single piece of the course, there is about five and a half hours of content. That includes exercises that you can do with your partner, coaching sessions with other couples you can watch, and interviews with Aaron and his wife. The educational lessons total about two hours.

  • The course has education sections, exercises, interviews, and coaching sessions. The educational parts are mostly video with some audio mini-modules. They also include pdfs to supplement the learning, like Key Takeaways, module-specific practices, and FAQs . The exercises are guided videos to do in real-time with your partner. The interviews are with Aaron and his wife and you get to hear about their journey with sex and intimacy and parenting differences. The coaching sessions are videos of sessions Aaron did with real couples.

  • After you purchase the add-coaching session you’ll immediately be sent an email that will direct you to our 60-min session calendar. You can use the calendar to find a time that works best for you and your selected coach, and you’ll be sent a confirmation email with the session details after the time as been accepted by your coach.

  • Once you enroll, you'll receive a welcome email with your login to your on-demand course materials. In the course portal, you'll have access to all your videos and resources.

If you registered for the live version, you'll receive the same welcome email with your login to the on-demand course and you'll also receive an additional email with more details about the live virtual course.

Personal Coaching Questions

  • No, you won't be working with Aaron directly. We have a team of certified coaches that are trained in the best methods of both modern therapy and life coaching.

  • Yes. We have a growing set of coaches to choose from. We want you to get the opportunity to work with the coach you feel most excited about. If you do a session with one of our coaches and it doesn’t feel like a good fit, you’re welcome to try working with another one.

  • We start with one session because it's important to us that you have an opportunity to get to know your coach and feel safe with them, and for everyone to make sure it's a good fit. Once you have your first couple's session and each of you has an individual session, you'll be able to have a standing, regular appointment or schedule more sessions ad hoc.

  • No problem. You're not locked into anything. You're welcome to try an intro call with another one of our coaches if you'd like.

  • We allow cancellations of coaching sessions with a full refund up to 24 hours before the start of the session. You can cancel your session by emailing info@babyproofingyourrelationship.com.
